Ken Loach, the Director of the Working Class: “WHICH SIDE ARE YOU ON?”

Screens that surround us, cameras that decide what these screens will show, minds that decide where these cameras will point... If we reflect on this question, we can see that the life of the working class, its hard struggle for bread and its struggle against the capitalist class is rarely reflected on the screens. This is because the capitalist class dominates the media, the means of communication and the cinema. It wants to use the screens to fill the time of the working class, to cloud its mind, to paralyse it with poisonous ideas. The life, demands and aspirations of the working class have no place on the screens in its service.

But despite all this, there are artists and directors who know the true face of capitalism and choose to side with the working class. They dedicate their talents and their cameras to the working class and reflect the realities of the working class on the screen, like the British director Ken Loach, whose camera always reflects the realities. UİD-DER Web TV prepared a mini-documentary entitled “Ken Loach, the director of the working class: WHICH SIDE ARE YOU ON?” to tell the workers in Turkey about Ken Loach, whose films portray the working class. We are happy to present our documentary about this great director of the working class to the workers.
